MS Fram leaves Longyearbyen behind and makes for the Russian settlement of Barentsburg, and the spectacular landscapes of Kings Bay fjord - large tundra plains, mountain peaks and calving glaciers. North is the world's northernmost permanently inhabited community, Ny Alesund and the 16th-century whaling station at Magdalenefjorden.

Moffen island is a protected area where visitors can see the Atlantic walrus hauling in and out of the sea onto the beach. MS Fram crosses the sea to Greenland and the vast wilderness of North East Greenland National Park, and finally sails the Denmark Strait to Iceland's Snaefellsnes Peninsula.
