Enjoy a day in historic Portsmouth then sail to Ijmuiden, from where it is possible to visit the quirky Dutch capital, Amsterdam. In Norway the first port of call is picturesque Eidfjord, surrounded by majestic mountains and the gateway to Hardangervidda, Norway's largest national park.

Cruise Hardangerfjord to quaint Flam, renowned for its famous railway which meanders through breathtaking mountain scenery, before heading to Geiranger where mountain roads wind their way up to panoramic views. In historic Bergen take the opportunity to ride to the summit of Mount Floien for panoramic views, or head to the famous Bryggen Wharf.

Majestic Autumn Fjordland and Gala Cruise Itinerary

Day 1 - Poole (UK)

Embark Astoria in Poole.

Day 2 - Portsmouth

Portsmouth is home to several famous ships, including HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and the Mary Rose. The waterfront area is now dominated by the Spinnaker Tower, 560 feet high, which is the United Kingdom’s tallest building outside London. Other things to see in the city include the house where Charles Dickens was born, and the City Museum, which contains a permanent exhibition devoted to another famous writer, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who lived in the town.

Day 3 - Ijmuiden (Netherlands)

Ijmuiden is the largest Dutch fishing port and grew in the 1870s. Perhaps travel to Amsterdam to visit the Anne Frank House or explore the famous Van Gogh Museum to admire the largest collection of his paintings and drawings in the world.

Day 4 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship’s facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 5 - Eidfjord (Norway)

Cruise Hardangerfjord and arrive at Eidfjord. This charming town is the gateway to Hardangervidda, Norway’s largest national park. From here, perhaps visit the beautiful Voringfossen waterfall or the amazing Sysen Dam on optional excursions.

Day 6 - Flåm

The village of Flam is surrounded by towering mountains and nestled at the head of Aurlandsfjord. In the late 19th century, royals were attracted by the salmon fishing in the Flam River. Today, visitors flock to Flam for the opportunity to ride on the world famous railway, a masterpiece of engineering. Later, cruise Sognefjord.

Day 7 - Geiranger

Geiranger has grown into one of Norway’s most popular tourist resorts. From here, mountain roads wind their way up to panoramic views that are breathtaking.

Day 8 - Bergen

Bergen is beautifully located against a backdrop of seven mountains. Perhaps take the funicular ride to the summit of Mount Floien for panoramic views of Bergen, or explore the traditional wooden buildings of the colourful Bryggen wharf which house souvenir shops.

Day 9 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship’s facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 10 - Rotterdam (Netherlands)

Rotterdam's architecture is an intriguing mix of old and new. The city was founded in 1328 and today modern glass skyscrapers stand side-by-side with buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Day 11 - Portsmouth (UK)

Disembark Astoria in Portsmouth.
