Continue to picturesque Honningsvaag, gateway to the famous North Cape.

Perhaps visit the Igloo Hotel during your overnight stop in Alta, known as the City of the Northern Lights, before learning about Kristiansund's seafaring tradition. Admire the awe-inspiring scenery of the Romsdal Alps in pretty Andalsnes and discover the iconic Bryggen Wharf in the historic city of Bergen.

Day 1 - Bristol Avonmouth (UK)

Embark Marco Polo in Bristol Avonmouth.

Days 2-3 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship’s facilities during relaxing days at sea.

Day 4 - Ålesund

Alesund was rebuilt in an art nouveau style following a fire in 1904. Admire the magnificent buildings with turrets and towers or walk up the 418 steps to the summit of Mount Aksla for stunning views of the town. The Jugendstilsenteret in the former Swan Pharmacy celebrates Alesund's architectural history.

Day 5 - At Sea

Day 6 - Tromsø

Tromso is located around 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle and lays claim to the world's northernmost university, cathedral and brewery. The cable car ride to the summit of Mount Storsteinen offers stunning views of the city, which is built on two islands. The Arctic Cathedral is one of the landmarks of Tromso and The Polar Museum is just one of the city's museums.

Day 7 - Honningsvåg

Honningsvag is one of the smallest cities in Norway and lies on the south-eastern side of Mageroya island in the Barents Sea. It is the starting point of excursions to the dramatic North Cape.

Days 8-9 - Alta

Alta is the largest town in Finnmark and located on the banks of the Alta River, popular for salmon fishing. The town has three centres. Bossekop is traditional, Elvebakken is home to the airport and harbour, and the new town features a variety of shops. Large areas of woodland surround the town which is one of the best places to see the magical Northern Lights.

Day 11 - Kristiansund

Kristiansund is built across four islands connect by bridges. Famed for its Salted Cod, known as 'Clipfish', it owes it's prosperity and growth to the locals who were producing and exporting the product as far back as 1690. There are various interesting scultures scattered around the town, including "The end of the journey", in memory of the 18 Jews from Kiristiansund, killed in Austwitz. It is also the gateway to the Atlantic Road, one of the world's most scenic roads, offering amazing views and a journey you will never forget.

Day 12 - Åndalsnes

Andalsnes is located at the end of Romsdalfjord at the mouth of the Rauma River. The river attracted British aristocrats at the end of the 19th century. Today, it is the administrative centre of Rauma and the start of the Rauma Line, a vintage steam train journey. Perhaps take the optional excursion along the winding Troll Path Road.

Day 13 - Bergen

Bergen is beautifully located against a backdrop of seven mountains. Perhaps take the funicular ride to the summit of Mount Floien for panoramic views of Bergen, or explore the traditional wooden buildings of the colourful Bryggen wharf which house souvenir shops.

Days 14-15 - At Sea

Day 16 - Bristol Avonmouth (UK)

Disembark Marco Polo in Bristol Avonmouth.
